Free for Mission Valley parents

Looking for premium childcare? Too many options? We make it easy.

Every center in Mission Valley says the same three things, and they all have space. So we wrote down the 27 questions that actually separate them — plus a one-page scorecard that ranks every place you tour. Three minutes, free, and it works anywhere.

  • 27 questions, grouped by what actually goes wrong
  • The 4 red flags — walk out if you see them
  • A one-page scorecard so every center you tour is compared on the same points
  • Written by a licensed San Diego center that’s happy to be asked all 27
  • California-licensed
  • 6 weeks – 5 years
  • Mission Valley & Ramona
  • Mon–Fri 7:30am–5:30pm

The four red flags

These are in the checklist, but you should know them before you walk into anyone’s lobby — including ours.

  1. You weren’t allowed past the lobby. A center confident in its classrooms lets you stand in one during class time, not after hours when it’s empty.
  2. Nobody could tell you their teacher turnover. Your child bonds with a person, not a building. If the answer is vague, the number is bad.
  3. The ratio you saw wasn’t the ratio they quoted. Count heads yourself, in the room your child would actually be in, at the time of day they’d be there.
  4. The all-in cost never came in writing. Registration, supplies, late fees, holiday closures. Get one number for one month, on paper.

What’s inside

Three minutes to read, one page to print, useful at every center in San Diego.

1

Safety & licensing

The six questions that surface a center’s actual licensing history — and the public database where you can check the answer yourself.

2

Teachers & turnover

How to find out who will really be in the room at 2pm, how long they’ve been there, and what happens when they’re out.

3

What the day looks like

Nap, meals, screens, outside time, and what happens on the day your child bites someone or gets bitten.

4

Money, honestly

The all-in monthly number, what’s extra, subsidy programs you may already qualify for, and the deposit questions to ask before you sign.

This is the part websites don’t show you

Nine centers, nine websites, the same three stock photos. Here is a real Tuesday at Mission Valley — and the checklist tells you exactly what to look for when you stand in a room like this one.

Question 7: how long has this teacher been in this room?

Question 3: count the heads yourself, at 2pm.

Question 15: how much time outside, and what happens when it rains?

Quick questions

Is this actually free?

Yes. No card, no trial. We’d rather you tour every center on our list of 27 questions than pick one blind.

Will someone call me?

One text with your checklist, and one call from our enrollment director to ask if you’d like to see the center. That’s it — never more than twice.

Do you have openings?

Yes — and so does nearly every center in San Diego right now, which is exactly why the checklist matters. What we’ll show you instead is how long our teachers have been here, our real ratio at 2pm, and how many children are in the room your child would join.

Where are you?

967 Camino Del Rio S, San Diego 92108, in Mission Valley. We also have a Ramona campus at 2291 Main St.
