Summer Fun at Nese Kids Care: Hands-On Activities Kids Love in San Diego and Ramona

Four young children play together outdoors on playground equipment, including a blue plastic seesaw, a red slide, and a toy car, on a rubber mat surface. They appear to be having fun and interacting with each other.

Summer is a season made for curiosity. Longer days, warmer weather, and a little more room to explore give kids the chance to try new things and make memories that stick. At Nese Kids Care, we build that spirit into everything we do across our Ramona and Mission Valley locations, with activities designed to keep children engaged, active, and learning all season long.

Here is a look at some of the experiences our families can look forward to this summer.

Meet the Animals: Mobile Petting Zoo and Alpaca Experience

There is something special about the moment a child meets an animal for the first time. This summer, our mobile petting zoo brings that experience right to our centers, complete with bunnies, goats, ducks, chinchillas, and even alpacas.

It is more than a chance to pet something soft and cute. Children learn how to approach animals gently, hear stories from animal rescue, and help with feeding. These hands-on moments teach empathy, responsibility, and confidence in a way that sticks with kids long after the animals head home.

Creativity and Celebration: Luau Party and Movie-Inspired Crafts

We love giving kids a reason to use their imaginations. Our summer luau party turns the center into a tropical celebration, with music, color, and plenty of room to be silly. Pair that with our movie-inspired craft day, where children create their own art and bring their favorite stories to life.

Themed days like these do more than fill an afternoon. They encourage creativity, build fine motor skills, and give kids a shared experience to talk about and feel proud of.

Cool Off and Have Fun: Splash Day and Movie Day

When the temperature climbs, our splash days are the perfect way to cool down and burn off energy. Water play is one of the simplest and most joyful parts of summer, and it doubles as a great way for kids to build coordination and play together.

For a change of pace, our movie days give children a chance to relax and enjoy a story together. It is a nice reminder that downtime matters too, especially in a busy season full of activity.

Why Hands-On Experiences Matter

Every activity we plan has a purpose behind it. Meeting animals teaches empathy. Crafts build focus and creativity. Water play and group games support physical development and social skills. Even a quiet movie afternoon helps children learn to rest and reset.

We believe the best learning happens when children are genuinely engaged, and summer gives us the perfect chance to make that happen. Our goal is simple: to create a place where kids feel excited to show up, comfortable enough to try new things, and supported every step of the way.
